Les Cheneaux Community Schools
This initiative purchased and integrated WWI, WWII, world and United States maps into its social studies curricula to improve students' geographic literacy, spatial reasoning, and understanding of global interconnectedness. It aimed to use geography to shift teaching and learning to center the fullness of American and world history. The initiative centered global interconnectedness of historical events, experiences of non-Western nations, colonized regions, marginalized populations, and the geographic realities that shaped military, political, and economic decisions.
